Description:

After establishing belief in Jesus as the pivotal determinant of redemption, Peter turns his focus back to extolling God for those who do believe. He continues to make effective use of the Old Testament Scriptures as he defines the glorious nature of the new covenant; using the imagery of Israel and the wilderness years to aptly describe the relationship his readers have with God through Christ. In the process, he not only identifies the nation and race that has been created through Christ, but celebrates the new Israel of God of which belief in Jesus is the determining factor. We will analyze each of the marvelous statements he makes and end with our own celebration of the Light that has rescued us from the darkness and transformed all those who truly believe into the New Covenant's Israel of God.
