Description:

On the road to Emmaus, Jesus rebuked two of His disciples because of their "dim-witted, dull-hearted, and foolish" interpretation of Scripture. Specifically, He was referring to their selective reading of Scripture concerning the nature of the Messiah and the necessity of His suffering. To prove His point, He then launched into an Old Testament-wide exposition of why it was necessary for the Messiah to suffer as He did on the Cross. Although Luke does not tell us specifically which Scriptures Jesus used in this exposition, we will turn to the Old Testament to find multiple stories and prophecies He might have used to accomplish His purpose. Ultimately we will marvel at the extravagance of God's Plan of Redemption and the deep, deep love that it reveals, as we trace our Lord's path to glory from the Garden to the Cross!
