We Have an Advocate!

John teaches that Christians have powerful reasons NOT to sin; but when we do-- we have an Advocate!

As we resume our study of the Epistles of John after an extended Summer break, we will return to the same verses we were studying the last time we met. John is lovingly comforting his flock that their Heavenly Father is not the cold, aloof Judge that some have made Him out to be. But rather a loving Father who desires fellowship with them. Towards that end, John reminds his readers that Jesus Christ is not only their Propitiation, but also their Divine Advocate. We will analyze just this part of the text, having already studied these verses in two prior sermons. Ultimately we will glean four valuable lessons from the text, and especially the fact that in the loving Redemption provided entirely by our Triune God, we have a powerful reason not to sin. But if we do-- we have an Advocate!
