After John establishes some of the great doctrines of our faith, he turns his attention to application. One of his primary concerns is for those who claim to be Christians but who are not living a sanctified life. John gives us a sure-fire way to test the validity of those who are truly Christians with a familiar formula. Those who truly know Christ, who love Him, who abide with Him and "walk" with Him, will keep His Commandments, keep His words, and ultimately be perfected in God's love. We will analyze these great truths and apply the metaphors to ourselves-- as we strive to walk in His Light and gain the assurance that comes from knowing, abiding and walking with Him!
