Description:

Delivered during the Sunday morning worship service, 02/06/2022. Before launching into more specific teaching about what the Good news of the Kingdom of God is all about, Luke sketches a picture of the makeup of that Kingdom. We will revisit the image created last week of an early morning mist that catches the first rays of the rising sun and explodes with a million tiny points of refracted light, representing the preeminence of Christ in the illumination and empowerment of the church. We focused last week on Luke's list of the Apostles, called and chosen to be the very foundation of the church. And this week, we will focus on Jesus Himself as He establishes His divine sovereignty over truth, over the physical world, and over the spiritual world and the souls of humanity. To put this another way, last week we focused on the mist-- this week we will focus on the sun that brings that mist alive. In what functionally is both a short summary of the ministry of the Messiah to this point and an introduction to the profound teaching to follow, Luke reminds us of Who is doing the teaching, and why we should listen to the Preeminent Lord of Heaven.
